Don’t Let Them Study Hungry

How well can you study when you’re hungry?

As a teacher and community worker, I had my own share of struggles and I’ve witnessed even more. Working in Malaysia for the past 8 years, I’ve seen what lack of opportunity does to young people and how even the brightest and most hardworking ones can find themselves in dead-end situations if they don’t have the necessary skills and knowledge to pull themselves up.

What if you had the power to bridge that divide between them and the opportunity they need? The Solar Academy provided scholarships to young people who had been running in circles hoping to find a way out of the cycle of poverty. They’re ambitious, hard working, humble, and shy, and they’re no different than any of us with hopes, dreams and fears and all.

They have 3/4 of the programme to go and they need food and a roof over their heads throughout, until they are ready to stand tall on their feet and, and sustain themselves with their own salary. I’m supporting this campaign because I promised them we’ll do our best until they graduate.

They promised in return that they’ll also do their best to fight their fear of learning English, of making mistakes, of working in the big city of Kuala Lumpur and overall of the new.
